Marie-Eve Rousseau is a new strategic advisor in food safety at the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation. She has held various positions within the Sous-ministériat à la santé animale et à l’inspection des aliments since 2009. A chemist by training and holder of a doctorate from Université Laval (2007), she held the positions of analyst at the Laboratoire d’expertise et d’analyses alimentaires (2009-2017), planner for the monitoring of chemical contaminants in food (2017-2020) before joining the Direction de la salubrité alimentaire et du bien-être des animaux as food safety advisor (2020), team leader (2021-2022), and then acting assistant director up until recently (2022-2023).

Marie-Eve Rousseau has a wide range of experience within the Quebec public service in a number of food safety-related mandates, as well as years of experience in the federal public service and private industry. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to evolve within multidisciplinary teams, and remains highly stimulated by the sharing of expertise and collaboration. It is with renewed pleasure and a passion for science, risk management and public health protection that she takes on new challenges as a strategic advisor in food safety.
