Xavier Fioramonti

Xavier Fioramonti obtained a PhD in Physiology and Physiopathology from Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse in 2005. During his thesis, he characterized specific neurons with the ability to detect changes in glucose concentration, known as gluco-sensing neurons. He studied their roles in the regulation of food intake. After his thesis, he conducted a postdoctoral research at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey, USA. He continued his work on gluco-sensing neurons, focusing on detecting and regulating iatrogenic hypoglycemia induced by insulin injections (diabetic subjects treated with insulin therapy). Following these 4 years, he was recruited as a Research Scientist at the Human Nutrition department of INRAE. After spending a few years at the Centre for Taste and Feeding Behaviour in Dijon, he now works at the NutriNeuro laboratory located on the Neurocampus of Université de Bordeaux, where he co-leads the NutriMind team. Xavier Fioramonti continues to conduct research aimed at understanding the effects of sugars on brain function, particularly studying functions such as food intake and emotions.
