Frédéric Calon

Dr. Frédéric Calon serves as a professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy and conducts research as part of the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF) and the Research Center of the CHU de Québec-Université Laval. His expertise is primarily concentrated on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, the intricate realm of the blood-brain barrier, and the advancement of treatments, including innovative nutritional approaches. Together with his team, he has made notable contributions to unveiling the neuroprotective potential of omega-3 fatty acids in the context of brain disorders. With a portfolio boasting over 150 publications, which have garnered more than 15,500 citations, Dr. Calon also takes on the role of co-director for the associated international laboratory (Laboratoire International Associé – LIA) OptiNutriBrain and the International Research Network (Réseau de Recherche International – RRI) Food4BrainHealth, along with Sophie Layé from Bordeaux.
